It seems as though the same type of coins (example: 1 oz Silver American Eagles) are almost twice as much as Brokers offer.
What are the advantages of buying silver through the US Mint vs. Metals Broker?
The U.S. Mint does NOT sell uncirculated common American Gold Eagles direct, they only sell 'Proof' coins..You have to buy the common American Gold Eagle coins from an Authorized dealer...find one on their website.
Proofs are much more expensive than common and have equal ammounts of gold in them. so for metal content , buy the common bullion coins and you get more gold for your dollar
Silver is what silver is, buy the bars for maximum purchasing power. they come from respectable companys like Englehard, JMMatheny, etc and are easy to sell through a real bullion dealer...10 ounce, 100 ounce, or 1000 ounce(about a 65 pounder so bring someone to carry it)bars are plentiful.
Reply:If you buy direct you cut out the middleman and his profit . You need to buy though huge quantities to even be considered as I recall .
Reply:Advantage....brand new
Disadvantage....cost more.
