I used A mint face masked and it burned my face. It been very red for over a week, what can I do?

I used Queen Helene mint julip face mask and it burned me pretty badly. i am very, very fair, never get a tan, and my face is now super red. You can see the difference in color around my lips and under my eybrows, where i didn't apply the mask. Do you know any way to help heal my face faster or get rid of the red?

Being a fellow translucent person, everything breaks me out. From now on, you'll probably want to do a "patch test" before using new products.

Unfortunately, you've got "contact dermatitis". It's the same irritation that you may get from using the wrong detergent to wash your clothing or the wrong soap for your body.

Most of the time, the best thing you can do is wait and allow it to resolve on its' own. But, if it's really bothering you or itching, you can try the following:

1. Benadryl pills. They'll make you sleepy, but they also stop the itching so you can rest.

2. OTC anti-itch creams (like Aveeno, Gold Bond or Cortaid).

3. Call your doctor. He may prescribe you a topical corticosteroid.

Keep your face clean and moisturized. Just don't use any scented cleansers or lotions.

I am so sorry that you're going through this.
Reply:i used a mask that burnt my skin before..and it took me quite some time to heal completely..for the moment, use a cleanser and moisturiser that is super mild..it would be advisable not to scrub, use make up or expose your skin to sun light..use cool tea bags to sooth your skin and DONT use anything harse like toothpaste and all that..it will make it worse..some say use aloe vera gel helps..try the one from banana boat..it's cooling and soothing..many of my friends use it for sunburns and it helps a lot..although yours is not sunburn but the cooling effect will help plus it's gentle..give your face sometime and it'll recover..no worries..
