The tomatoes (and peppers if their still there) yes. Strawberries - prepare a raised row next to them for their runners to populate and grow again next spring (strawberries only give one good crop and then germinate outwards for the next). Mint will populate itself right where it is - just give it a good dose of watered-down nutrients early next year. Good luck with your garden.
I have mint, strawberries and tomatoes still out in my garden, I am in New York. Should I pot them?
Pot up ALL the mint and remove it from Invadeing the rest of your space. Or It will become a problem soon. Good Luck goes to the forwarned. Report It
Reply:Definitely pot them if you want them to continue their growing season. Make sure you place them in a warm, sunny room.
Reply:TOMATOES - Pull them up by the roots. Hang the plant upside down inside your house somewhere. The tomatoes will continue to ripen for a while longer.
Reply:It's over, winter will be here soon, like on Sat, it's supposed to get really cold, it's DEC garden is done, I took in the Parsley, if it makes it cool, if not ? oh well !
Reply:you need to cover them asap. with a blanket, and some plastic, and hope they live through the storm.
Reply:The tomatoes are goners. Forget them...although you can cut off a couple of strong branches and root them by putting them water or sterile potting soil. If you keep them in a sunny window or under a grow light of some kind, you might be able to get them to produce even during the winter. But the outdoor tomatoes will die with the first freeze if they haven't winter killed already. They're usually annuals anyway - one year from seed to fruit and dying.
Mint is virtually unkillable. It's a weed with virtues. You can dig up some to keep inside for the winter, or cut it and root it in water for inside use, but don't worry about it if you don't want to bother...it'll kill back to the ground and come back next year.
Reply:The tomatoes can't be moved they will die. (Been there done that) The strawberries need to do their thing for next year, and the mint is almost indestructible do what ever you want. I would cut off the mint and plant the root ball it will grow.
