Put them in ice tea, dry them and keep to make hot tea, freeze them with water in ice cube trays and add to summer drinks.

Pick the leaves, wash them under cold water, and chop up fine to add to salads etc. Don't use many as they taste very strong. Add about 5 leaves to peas when they are cooking for minted peas. Chop a few leaves very fine and stir through yoghurt and minced cucumber for a cooling dip to serve with hot curries. Tie a bunch of leaves together and run your hot bath water over it for an energising bath. Boil a couple of leaves and use the water for a herbal tea for indigestion

I have an interview next week for a promotion at work. Because I recently lost a lot of weight, my clothing collection's a little thin at the moment. I want to wear a charcoal grey single-breasted suit with a mint green pinpoint oxford shirt, but don't have any ties that go well with this combination. Any tie color suggestions? I want to stand out, because they're interviewing several candidates, but want to remain conservative, as I'm in law enforcement, so they're not expecting Mr. GQ.

That shirt color is a poor choice. Go with a nice conservative white shirt. Then wear a striped tie with grey and blue in it. Otherwise you will stand out for the wrong reason. Let your personality and your credentials stand out instead.

Since you did just loose a lot of weight, it's time to invest in some new clothes, so you can show off your new look. Reply:i attended business college and we had to take a course in professional development. i will share with you some interviewing attire ettiquette. first of all the mint green shirt is going to be a no no. I would go with a simple crisp white shirt and dark tie with a small amount of design on it. if your really wanting the green color then i would purchase a tie that has a min amount of green in the tie. stay conservative and classic. flashy doesn't always pay off. The problem with English is we not only have words, that have more than one meaning, but are also are spelled the same. The word mint is from Middle English, which came from the old English word mynet (means coin). Today the noun, is a place where money is coined by the Authority of a government. The verb, is to form by stamping or punching. Used as an adjective we have "as if new". You are waisting your time with the flavor joke on a person who is a true coin collector or numismatist, it will go over his head. When someone say mint to me, I never think of the one used in tea or a candy. In fact it never crosses my mind at all. That is unless someone is serving tea or candy. I am not a collector per se of ancient Greek coins, I do have a few, but don't get deep into them, so I am not sure what the Ancient Greeks or Persians, to think of them, called a mint. You eat the mints I will collect the coins. It is a great feeling to have in ones hand, a coin George Washington may have spent for lunch.

It's at least 20 years old as my family has had it for as long as I can remember and I'm 23. It is signed by Mark Eaton (just prior to retirement), Karl Malone (rookie days), John Stockton (rookie days) and the entire rest of the team as it was at that time. You need to spray it with weed spray. Something that won't hurt your plants, but will kill the mint. I had that stuff all over my yard and the weed spray worked. Just don't use a weed spray that is a vegetation killer. It will kill your plants and your grass too.

Most of the time, it works if you uproot the Mint regularly.

Reply:plant it in pots if you want to keep it and don't want it to take over... the reason it does this is because it has some underground stems called "rhizomes" that shoot all under the ground and send stems upwards... if you don't want to use the abundance uproot some and stick it in a pot and leave the pot slightly above ground... this will ease your troubles...

Reply:In general, people are right about selling your comics to a comic shop would probably be the easiest thing. The easiest way to find your closest comic book shop is to use http://csls.diamondcomics.com/

which has the location of pretty much every major comic book store. However, depending on the age of the comics, do not expect to get too much for them. Unless they are really old, dating back to the 1960's and 1970's run, most comics are not especially valuable. The exception is 1st appearances and rare issues, which are also nice. You may want to buy an issue of Wizard or another pricing guide magazine to see if you have anything especially valuable, because you don't want to get ripped off. This will give you a ballpark of what to expect. However, if it is not a special issue and is from the 1980's or 1990's, don't expect to get more than 25 cents an issue, in all honesty. If you have complete runs of certain series, you might be able to charge a little more. Also, if you are going to sell them on line, through craigslist or some other method, you should give some general issue numbers and let people know which ones you have, that way you are more likely to attract people who are interested. Reply:The best place you coud sell em would be your local comic book store. Find it online or in the yellow pages and ask em if they're interested in buying some of your comics. If you don't know which ones are worth the most, you can bring a long a few sample issues to show what kinda stuff you have, or tell them which series and dates you have. This is the fastest and easiest way I know of.

One time i was selling some football programmes and the nearest place to me offered me some money which was quite reasonable but i then found out that they were worth a lot more.

I have made them before, using mint from the produce section at the store which was just called "mint". Now I have a friend who has some fresh mint growing in her backyard and she has offered to give me some to make my juleps. But then she said "do you need spearmint or peppermint" ? And I realized I don't know ! When you buy mint in the store, what kind of mint is it? I'm thinking the mint juleps tasted like spearmint, but I don't want to chance it. Anybody know for sure? Preferably southerners so I know it's authentic! (ha)

Fresh mint, enough to yield about 2 cups after removing leaves and chopping, plus enough extra sprigs to put in each drink

2 cups sugar

2 cups water

Crushed ice

Bourbon



Pre-Derby Day Steps (Making the Mint-Sugar Syrup):



Remove the leaves from the mint and chop them; you do not need to finely chop, just enough to break the leaves into pieces

Boil the mint, water, and sugar; stir until the sugar dissolves (about 5-10 minutes)

Strain the mixture to remove the mint leaves

Put the mixture in the fridge overnight



Derby Day Steps (Making the Mint Julep):

Fill a glass with crushed ice

Add the mint-sugar syrup and bourbon, using about 2-3 parts bourbon to 1 part syrup, depending on your needs



Garnish with a mint sprig and serve
Reply:Spearmint is used to make mint juleps. Spearmint has big leaves. Peppermint has small leaves. So if the leaves of the mint that your friend has are big, use it because it's spearmint.
Reply:Spearmint is what's usually in recipes, but there are others that will work. You should know there are 1000+ standard varieties of mint out there.



If you want to get technical, the type of spearmint you want is Kentucky Colonel spearmint (mentha spicata cv.).



But really, any kind of mint will work. If you have a choice, go with spearmint (which is the more standard mint).

plain yogurt is usually available at most supermarkets. Just look and see if you can find it. Most peoples don't like it.



If this is for a recipe, I have substituted vanilla flavored yogurt and cut the sugar called for in half.
Reply:As the other poster mentioned, you can often find mint leaves in the fresh herb department of your grocery store. If you have no luck there, your local plant nursery should carry very small, inexpensive mint plants since many people like to grow mint in their herb gardens. Just make sure you buy organic -- you don't want pesticides in your food.



As for plain yogurt, Dannon brand makes a plain yogurt that's available in regular grocery stores or there are a few other brands available in specialty markets or natural markets.

Reply:Mint leaves are the leaves of the mint plant. You can get them where the herbs are in your produce department, or grow your own in a pot (get the seeds at a garden store). You can find plain yogurt in the dairy section (with the flavored yogurts) in any grocery store. To make your own, you'd still need plain yogurt as a starter.

the thing to fear from mint is that it tends to take over.. hard to get rid of once established.
Reply:Just a word of caution, when you plant mint it will spread like wildfire, it is a very invasive plant so if you keep it in a plot by itself it will be fine, but if you mix with other plants it will take over.

The flower spikes will attract bees from far and wide, also there are about 500 different varieties of mint so research the kind you want to grow.
Reply:Bees love sage, thyme, oregano, mint, tomatos, peppers, any brightly colored flowers, roses and fruit trees.



To keep bees away the only thing I can really come up with is garlic.
Reply:To truely discourage bees from our property, you might consider paving it.



But, really - unless you are allergic to bees, you have nothing to fear from them. They only want to gather pollen. They truly aren't concerned with people. The only times I have ever been stung by a bee is when I've stepped on them. (And then it could only be considered self-defense.)



It's wasps that are the aggressive ones. And only certain ones at that. Plants like mint are attractive to the little teeny tiny wasps that are called "beneficial" wasps because they paracitize the bugs that tend to eat our gardens. And bees, which pollenate our vegetables and fruit trees and such. Without which, quite a bit of our collective food supplies would disappear.



The nasty wasps can be discouraged with traps if you notice them. They are aggressive (especially Yellow Jackets - which are commonly mistaken for "bees", but they are shiny, not fuzzy) at the end of the season, when they can be seen around garbage cans, going for the remnants of peoples tossed soda cans and bottles. Bees don't do that.



So plant your mint! Be not afraid!



Though the mention of its' spreading is valid. You might want to plant it in a container, if you don't want it to get too big of a patch.
Reply:You won't have to worry much about bees. They are disappearing from our planet and an incredible rate. Scientists are saying it is due to cell phones. The frequency has screwed up the directional ability of bees and they are unable to find their way back to their nest.

Reply:I didn't see too many bees around my patch of mint (about a half acre) at the entrance to my pasture in KY. The horses wouldn't come to an area where there are a lot of bees.



This was my constant supply for mint juleps for ten years until we came to FL. Fragrance is great and the horses loved it once in a while. And as said above it tends to take over. Make sure it has plenty of room to grow or grow it in a window box or potted. Very hardy.

What is the best way to help a mint plant grow when there are lots of weeds?

Mint is pretty indestructible! Given half a chance, mint will take over your whole garden.It grows best in partial shade and in moist, moderately rich, slightly acid soil, but it will grow in any light from full sun to full shade and in any kind of soil you happen to have. Set plants 12 to 18 inches apart,. To control their rampant ways, plant them in bottomless containers sunk into the soil. Clay drainage tiles, about 10 inches deep and 6 to 8 inches across, are ideal.Keep the soil moist until the plants are established.Pinch stem ends off each spring to keep plants bushy. At the end of the gardening season, prune plants back to near ground level and top-dress with compost.

Reply:ALWAYS plant mint in its pot so as to limit its root growth, otherwise you will find that the mint itself becomes a weed due to its incredible aggressivity.
Reply:Mint usually takes over any space it's put in. You must have too much grass. Don't ever put it in your herb garden or flower garden. I worked years killing it out, and I lost the war. It grows in the grass and we mow it. I had to move my garden, as the mint spreads from the roots. Is your soil well tilled?

Reply:Pinch the mint back. Mint spreads quickly and will eventually overtake the grass and weeds. Pinching it back will allow this to happen faster. Take your pruning in the house and boil them on the stove. Your house will smell great, and the mint will spread -- 2 birds, 1 stone. Let it go to seed before fall, though.

red onion pickle or chutney

the pickle is made by slicing red onions and adding vinegar black pepper [ground] a couple of teaspoons of sugar, 2 or 3 bay leaves,cardimum seeds [pods soaked till soft and remove seeds add to mixture ] a pinch of paprika or a seeds from a medium chilli [the small ones are the hot ones] depending on how mild or hot you want it, leave in jars for at least a week and then enjoy

chutney is ,1 pint malt vinegar 20 oz sugar [16 oz castor 4 oz good brown sugar] add 1/2 a teaspoon of cumin and caraway seed bring to a simmer and reduce by 1/2 or untill you have a goods thick syrup, dont boil it will flow over the saucepan and leave a sticky mess just simmer, it may take 1/2 to 3/4s of an hr , tip here DO NOT SMELL VAPOURS it clears your nose quicker than a F 10 fighter jet, slice 4 or 5 red onions and put into the syrup while still warm not hot, you want the onion to have a bit of a crispy bite to them, stir till well mixed put in jars , seal and leave to cool. this is a basic recipe, you may find indian cook books do the same but with different ingredients try under accompanyments.

Reply:Ahhhh mint,I adore it. I've had it invade a whole side of my house,and that was okay. Now I have it growing in a planter box. It's very easy to grow and take care of. But it can be very invasive.

Reply:As far as I am concerned mint grows like a weed, it is by far one of the easiest plants to grow in the garden I have at least 5 different varieties. It is too bad you do not know anybody that has mint in there yard because I give mint away on a normal basis. I love the fact that you can smell the mint when the wind blows and the different varieties are a little different in appearance which I really like. One of my favorites is called "curly mint" it is not as aggressive as some of the other mints in the garden and it does curl. I have germinated thousands of seedlings in a greenhouse and indoors my home. Mint is a wonderful herb to grow. It is very easy to grow and does well in a container. Once it is established and you put in the ground, it will spread and can take over a garden area.



The key is purchasing a light weight potting soil with no bark. Add some vermiculite and humus to the soil. Add hot water to the soil mixture as this is wonderful for the root systems to get established. I will link you to the spices and herb section of my website. Reply:In a pot, because it spreads like crazy! I have been successful with growing various types of mints in pots on my deck, and I have also grown mint in an old shrub container that we buried in the garden--top edge of pot at ground level.

Sometimes it overwinters just fine in the pots, and sometimes it doesn't, and I have to start over. In the ground it survives winter very well. It does have a tendency to overgrow everything else, so keep that in mind when you plant it. And one little seedling will become a large mass in no time!

You don't need to be too careful with mint as it's a fairly hardy groundcover. Snip some of the foliage with roots intact and transplant that in some good potting medium. Water well and it should take care of itself.



Note: Don't plant mint in a garden bed without some barrier around it. You're better to keep it in a pot.

Fill eight cups or frozen goblets with crushed ice and pour 4 ounces of bourbon and 1/4 cup mint syrup in each. (Proportions can be adjusted depending on each person's sweet tooth). Top each cup with a mint sprig and a straw. Trim straws to just barely protrude from the top of the cups. Serve juleps on a silver platter.

If any of those numbers are missing, you don't have a first printing, which can and will detract from the value of the book. I think the most you could probably get would be, perhaps, $30, $40? I don't know about that but my mom taught me to put whole bay leaves in the pantry and one inside the bags of sugar, flour, etc. and this seems to work to keep them away.

I am looking for the recipe for an Indian condiment. It's made of mint and parsley, maybe?

The only Indian restaurant in my town has closed, and I don't even know what this condiment is called, so I can't look up a recipe!



It is served cold or room temp., and seems to be just minced up herbs (mint, and maybe parsley?) and a little neutral liquid (water?).



Any help identifying this is much appreciated! Thanks.

there are many receipes for a chutney....



the basic one which i make is



corainder leaves 2 bunch, washed

mint leaves 1 bunch, washed

ginger/garlic paste 1tea spoon

cumin powder 1tea spoon

green chilli paste(optional)

salt o taste

water to grind



mango chutney(ready made)/ grated coconut (optional)



put everything in a blender and blend it to a smooth paste..



there you go...simple and tasty..

And no it would not be parsley but corriander leaves (or cliantro as it is called in the US)



You can make a variety of chutneys from an assortment of condiments like mint, cilantro, tamarind pulp, green chillies, mango, garlic, ginger and even fresh grated coconut.

Reply:I think you're talking about golguppa water. It is usually served with a hollow spherical cracker sorta thing. Or you might be talking about raita which is fresh herbs and cucumber, carrots, tomatoes, and other vegtables mixed with yogurt. Or you might be talking sbout chutney. There is a green chutney (sauce). If you grind up sime mint, parsley, onion, tomatoes, and salt (or sugar, it matters what you want it to taste like) you can make it. You can find a more detailed recipie if you do a search on the internet. You can also find it at your local indian food store.

Ingredients



1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice

4-1/4 cups sparkling apple cider, chilled

2 cups rosewater, chilled



Instructions



Mix the granulated sugar and the lime juice in a punch bowl. Pour the sparkling cider and rose water over the lime and sugar mixture. Stir well.



Garnish with the mint if you like.

2-3 tablespoons rose water

3 limes, sliced

1 cup mint leaves

1 1/4 liters soda water

ice cubes





Combine water and sugar in a medium saucepan.

Stir over low heat for 3-4 minutes until sugar dissolves.

Bring to the boil, then simmer for 5 minutes.

Cool to room temperature, then chill until cold.

In a large jug, combine the sugar syrup with the rosewater, lime slices and mint.

Add ice cubes and stir.

It really doesn't work...at best, the strong odor of the mint is suppose to over-power the bad breath. They just need to keep hearing from a number of people "a variety of comments" (well intended...that indicates they have a severe breath problem).



"...are you feeling OK? ...your breath as an odor that you might have a severe stomach upset?"



"...what did you eat last? ...your breath has an unsual strong odor...I can't identify it! (that might open a discussion to educate/teach what is necessary to resolve it).



If you can find a really "hot looking" person (that they will never see again)...tooooo really make a direct sincere point about it! It might drive the point home.



If it is due to poor dental hygiene/periodontal disease and/or rotten/stale cigarrette breath...they probably won't do what needs to be done... to address the etiology of the whole thing. You will just have to keep your distance.

Firstlly we make the mint sauce.

2 heaped tablespoons of mint leaves

2 teaspoons sugar

1/2 tablespoon hot water

2 tablespoons vinegar,malt is best



Wash and dry the mint leaves, put on to a chopping board with 1 teaspoon sugar ( this helps to chop the mint finely). Chop until fine, then put into a sauceboat. Add the rest of the sugar, stir in the hot water and leave for a few mins to disolve sugar. Add the vinegar.



Or you could cheat and buy the ready made, either way take a pot of natural yoghurt and add the mint to taste. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Happy eating

Try chopping up cucumber into very small pieces and add this, for a cooler flavour.

Mint grows likes a weed . Grow some in a pot in a sunny place and cut and use as required.
Reply:Thats not authentic its mixed with yoghurt! You need fresh mint leaves but no idea of what the recipe is but if its the type that goes with lamb its very different from what you get in an Indian.
Reply:If you want to buy it it's called raita, but all you need is natural youghurt and a teaspoon of mint sauce. To make it extra special add some diced cucumber. I always make my own and its great with poppadums or even as as side with tandoori chicken.
Reply:Not sure where to buy this but I like 4tbsp plain yoghurt with 1/2 - 1 tsp mint sauce (like you use with lamb), 1 good tbsp tomato ketchup (sounds so wrong but it's not), dash tabasco or something similar, salt %26amp; pepper. You can beef this up a bit by adding chunks of cucumber %26amp; slices of onion. Leave to marinade for 10-15 mins before eating. Yum! Can also be used as a pakora sauce. If you choose to grate the cucumber rather than chop it remember to do this onto a plate first %26amp; squeeze the water out otherwise the yoghurt ends up all sloppy.
Reply:you buy a jar of mint sauce add natural yoghurt to it, if you want it to be spicier/hotter put some green chillies in the blender witha bit of water, blend and add to the mint sauce. Add a bit of salt for taste to.

With beige/brown shades. A touch of black is good here and there. Natural wood is good too. Maybe some yellows. A good way to figure out the colors you would like to try-please go to a paint store and get some of those color cards-that show the different colors and shades of the colors. If you take them home, hold them up to the walls, and maybe even the sofa, you will get a better idea of what colors and shades you would like to decorate the room with.

Hi. I'm a coin dealer in the Midwest. To an extent, the quarters are distributed through the banks in a regional fashion...that is, the banks in your area will tend to get coins from one mint over another depending on where you are located. Roughly from the Ohio River and west, you'll tend to find more D (Denver) coins; east of that, it's primarily "P" (Philadelphia) issues. There are a few exceptions occasionally when one mint lags behind in production, etc. but that is the case in general.



The best way for you to find these out of circulation is to go to your local bank and buy rolls of quarters. You may have to try a couple different banks, and rotate around so you don't end up getting your own stuff back. Pick the banks that give you the best coins as the "buy from" banks, and the others as the "cash in" banks.

Take some money and exchange it for quarters at the bank and start searching worse comes to worse you can always just change the quarters back or use them at a store.
Reply:The web being what it is, I'm sure you can find a numismatic web page where collectors will exchange coins for others in return. You can also visit your local numismatic dealer and talk to them about resources to get them. They sometimes have bags full of coins that aren't too valuable yet that you can get at cost or only slightly higher than cost. Just do some research to make sure they are reputable and that the cost is around the true value. I would also try to find a coin collectors blog that can always garner more results. These are effective in that they don't require too much monetary or time investment and should yield pretty fair results.

Hello, we love to cook with fresh herbs all the time, we get them from the local grocer but the herbs only last a couple of days before they turn black and we have to throw them. Does any one has a technique you use to keep them fresh longer in the refrigerator?

How can we keep fresh herbs like: Cilantro, Basil, Parsley, Mint in the refrigerator longer?
I wrap a paper towel around parsley and cilantro and put them in the bottom of the fridge. I think that they turn black and slimy sooner when the leaves are wet (like in a plastic bag) With most other herbs, like basil, I keep a few inches of water in a glass and put them in the top of the fridge (like a bouquet of flowers). If you don't let the water in the glass dry up, it will keep a long time.
Reply:Put them in a glass of h2o-like you would flowers. Herbs are very hearty when they are still growing so why not plant a few in a window pot, instead?!
Reply:i usually dampen a paper towel, roll it over the herbs and put it in a plastic bag in the fridge.
Reply:Basil wont' keep hardly at all. Best to pluck it fresh from a bush. (EASY to grow in a pot)



The other 3 can be stuck in a glass of water and put in the fridge. They still wont' last over a week.



And buy the freshest you can find when you buy fresh herbs. Check the cut ends to be sure they haven't browned. Brown = old.
Reply:Put them in the freezer. When you know you are going to need them, take the desired portion out a couple hours before use, and put them in the refrigerator to thaw.
Reply:You can wrap the cilantro in aluminum foil. I do this and it lasts longer than when it's in a plastic bag.

also, by having a lump of coal in the fridge will eliminate odours from your fridge...
Reply:I actually freeze mine. I love using fresh dill through out the year as the dried is AWFUL. I just put the fresh spriggs in a food processor (or you can chop by hand) and then put in a glass jar with a bit of fruit freeze to keep them fresh. I use a glass jar as I have found they get dry in a freezer bag. Grow your own in summer in a garden or just a few clay pots and enjoy year round!

ummm not sure about the triple layer part...but i did find a couple...good luck!



Chocolate Mint Swirl Cheesecake



Crust

1 cup chocolate wafer cookie crumbs

3 tablespoons sugar

3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted



Filling

4 packages (8 ounces each) PHILADELPHIA? Cream Cheese, softened

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

4 eggs

2 squares BAKER'S? Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate, melted

1 package (4.67 ounces) crème de menthe candies, coarsely chopped

10 drops green food coloring



Crust

MIX crumbs, sugar and butter; press onto bottom of 9-inch springform pan. Bake at 325°F for 10 minutes if using a silver springform pan. (Bake at 300°F for 10 minutes if using a dark nonstick springform pan.)



Filling

MIX cream cheese, sugar and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add eggs, mixing on low speed just until blended. Spoon 1-1/2 cups batter into small bowl; blend in melted chocolate. Add mint candies and food coloring to remaining batter. Pour 1/2 of the mint batter over crust. Using tablespoon, dollop 1/2 of the chocolate batter over mint batter layer; repeat layers. Cut through batter with knife several times to create marble effect.



BAKE at 325°F for 1 hour or until center is almost set if using a silver springform pan. (Bake at 300°F for 1 hour or until center is almost set if using a dark nonstick springform pan.) Run knife or metal spatula around rim of pan to loosen cake; cool before removing rim of pan. Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.

2 cups crushed Oreo crumbs

3/4 cup sugar, divided

1/4 cup margarine, melted

Two 8-ounce packages cream cheese, softened and divided

3 eggs divided

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, melted

1-1/3 cups sour cream

1/3 cup brown sugar, packed

1 tablespoon flour

1/4 cup chopped pecans

5 ounces cream cheese

1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Preheat oven to 325F. Mix Oreo crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar and butter in bowl. Press into bottom and up sides of springform pan. Mix 8 ounces cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar. Beat 3 minutes. Add 1 egg and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.



Stir in pecans. Spoon gently over chocolate layer. Combine 5 ounces cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar. Add 1 egg. Stir in remaining 1 cup sour cream, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla and almond extract. Spoon over layers. Bake 1 hour. Turn oven on and let sit in oven 30 minutes.



Remove. Chill 8 hours. Garnish with chocolate mint leaves. To make chocolate mint leaves. Pick mint leaves from garden. Wash and dry completely. Paint back of mint leaves with clean artist's brush.



Allow to cool thoroughly. Peel leaf away from chocolate. Use as garnish on cheesecake.

Filling: Beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla until smooth. Sprinkle gelatin over water, dissolve over double boiler, cool slightly. Add to cream cheese mixture. beat well, fold in whipped cream. Spoon mixture into crumb crust. Dissolve mints in extra water over double boiler; cool a little. Spoon chocolate mint mixture over cream cheese mixture and swirl lightly into mixture with a spoon. Chill until set.
Reply:ooh yes! ths ones all mine! im a proffesional cook and have done alot of playing with chocolate and mint. heres a good thing to do. make a mint chocolate ganache. use 2 oz of butter, 2 oz of heavy whipping cream, about 8 - 12 oz of a good chocolate, and peppermint extract to taste. melt the butter and cream over a double boiler, add the chocolate and stir and melt it down. be patient dont burn your chocoalte. when its all melted down add your mint extract to taste, keep in mind that as something cools its flavor become less intense. i usually us about 3 tablespoons of mint. then let it cool stirring occasionally. now you can either pipe the chocolate out using a round piping tip and pipe straight lines and freeze then break the straws of chocolate into the size you want or you can just freeze the batch and hack away at the frozen ganache breaking it into lil pieces using a cleaver or big chef knife. but after you get your pieces re freeze them. make your cheese cake batter, for the final step add your mint chocolate ganache pieces and bake..... mmmmm or you cant take the ganache and melt it and pour it over the top enrobing your fully baked cheesecake then chilling it for a nice mint chocolate coating to your delicate cheesecake. the possibilities are endless... just have fun.

1 c. sugar

24 oz. cream cheese, softened

5 eggs

1/2 tbsp. mint extract

1/2 tbsp. vanilla extract

6 oz. mint chocolate chips, melted %26amp; cooled

Slowly add the sugar to the softened cream cheese, creaming them together. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each egg. Add the mint and vanilla extract. Put aside 2 cups of this mixture and add to it the melted mint chips, blending them together. Pour the remainder of the cheesecake mix into a generously buttered 9" square pan. Add the mint chocolate mixture on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Cool completely then cut into squares. Chill in refrigerator or freeze.





NO - BAKE CHOCOLATE MINT CHEESECAKE



1 (10 oz.) pkg. (1 1/2 c.) mint chocolate morsels, divided

1/3 c. butter, melted

1 1/2 c. finely crushed chocolate wafer cookies



FILLING:

1 1/4 c. mint chocolate morsels, reserved from 10 oz. pkg.

1/2 c. milk

1 env. unflavored gelatin

1 (8 oz.) pkg. plus 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened

3/4 c. sour cream

1/4 c. sugar

1/8 tsp. vanilla extract

1/2 c. heavy cream, whipped



Combine over hot, not boiling, water, 1/4 cup mint-chocolate morsels and butter; stir until morsels are melted and mixture is smooth. Add cookie crumbs; stir until well blended. Pat firmly into a 9 inch springform pan, covering bottom and 2 inches up sides; chill.



Filling: Melt over hot, not boiling, water, remaining 1 1/4 cups chocolate morsels. Stir until smooth; set aside. Pour milk into medium saucepan; sprinkle gelatin on top. Set aside 1 minute. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until gelatin dissolves. Set aside.



In large bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and salt; beat until fluffy. Beat in melted morsels, gelatin mixture and vanilla extract. Fold in whipped cream. Pour into prepared pan. Chill; remove rim. Makes one 9 inch cheesecake.

CRUST:

1 c. chocolate wafer crumbs

3 tbsp. butter, melted

Combine crumbs and butter. Press in bottom of a 9-inch springform pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.



FILLING:

3 (8 oz.) pkgs. cream cheese, soft

2/3 c. sugar

1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted

3 eggs

1/2 c. chopped creme de menthe mint wafers

1/2 c. sour cream

1 tsp. vanilla



Combine cream cheese and sugar on medium speed until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time; mix well. Blend in chocolate mint wafers, sour cream, vanilla; pour over crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Loosen cake from rim of pan. Cool before removing rim of pan. Chill. Garnish with additional wafers stuck all around cake.

Mint leaves are often used by many campers to repel mosquitoes. It is also said that extracts from mint leaves have a particular mosquito killing capability.



Mint oil is also being used as an environmentally friendly insecticide for its ability to kill some common pests like wasps, hornets, ants and cockroaches.



Merely growing the plant around the foundation does not repel ants. It still has to be processed before using it as an incsecticide.

I grow it in a pot, full sun. Is it too much sun? I read somewhere that variegated plants react to the amount of direct light but don't remember if variegation became more marked with more sun, or the opposite. Do you know?

On the plants that I grew, the smaller leaves usually had much more variegation on them that seemed to fade as the leaves matured. The more sun that the plant gets the less variegation you will have. Also if you have other mint close by you can have cross pollination which may cause this also.

Reply:There's an oil in catnip that is specific to that mint. It's not in the others, and it's not in the decorative catmint either (the one with the blue flowers).

One of my brothers cats hate the smell of mint. The other goes loopy for it. The effects of the smell are like a drug to him and he drooles, tries to rub against your mouth if you are eating one.
