I found a used one. The price is $15,000. The dealer is going to put new tires on the car. Does this sound like a good deal? I am worried that it has too many miles on it though!
Is 36,000 miles a lot for a mint condition 2008 Dodge Avenger SE?
Yes... that's way too much. Per Kelly Blue Book the values (based upon "Excellent" condition... which affords the highest values) is:
Retail (from a dealer): $13,025
Private Party (from another person): $11,425
Trade In (selling back to dealer): $9,875
If the condition is really "good" and not "excellent" the value goes down even more. Besides... I can't imagine how the heck they managed to rack up 36K miles in less than a year?!?!? We've driven from CA. to NYC, and then separately from CA. to Houston in our 05' Yukon (3 years old now)... which still only has 37K miles on it.

Reply:its probably belonged to a salesman or someone who travels a lot,that is high mileage but if their willing to back it up with a warranty that isn't too bad,they should knock some of the price down though that's little high with that many miles on it,actual value of it is less than than with that many miles on it,id ask them to take less for it,if they want to sell it they will come down on price a little,its probably a good vehicle just above average on miles,good luck.
Reply:36,000 miles on any current model year vehicle is a lot of mileage. For many people, it takes somewhere between 2 or 3 years to rack up that many miles.
Reply:Thats quite a bit. A 2008 could be a year old by now, even then thats 750 miles a week, I guess the owner could have commuted 75 miles each way.
Reply:WOW they must have never turned it off!!! (LOL) and the dealer is asking about $5000 too much for it..... Even with new tires on it!! The dealer is there to MAKE money!!
Reply:That's a lot of miles if there is no warranty??what was it used for lease%26gt;
