My mint plant is dying, any tips?
Mint is herbaceous
, which means it will die off each year and then re grow in spring. It is also like a weed, so don't feed it, that can kill it. It may be too late for this plant but if you buy another, once it looks healthy, split it and plant half in the soil outside if you have some.
Reply:I guess I have questions about your question ... on the tips did it flower? ... Are there still leaves on it or are you just left with tigs?
If so... Trim it down and it will start growing back. Trim it back to about one inch. Next time it flowers, trim those off, in matter of fact it doesn't hurt to trim it back once in awhile. Maybe also cut back the watering to 2x a week.
Reply:Is it turning brown from the leaf tips on up? It could be that you're watering it too much. Changes in seasons can change the need for water. Only water when the soil is dry for a full fingertip deep. In winter I water my plants about once a week. In summer, 3-4 times a week, depending on how hot it is. good luck
