Whats the best dog mint if your dog has bad breath?
If your dog has bad breath you might want to take a closer look at his diet. Bad breath is usually caused by a bad diet.
Any mint flavored dog treats will help but really, you need to get to the route cause of the problem. Giving your dog regular raw meaty marrow bones to chew on will reduce the amount of plaque on his teeth and give him fresher breath.
Reply:I agree with the first answerer. But if you need a quick fix in the meantime, try Yip Yaps. You can find them (believe it or not!) at Bed, Bath and Beyond. They're made from herbs and all natural ingredients. My dogs love them!
Reply:Sonic mints. Mabey. Who knows. Please star this answer as a best answer. I need points!!!! Thanks!!!! Shianne
Reply:You may need to take him to the vet to have his teeth checked to see if he has dental caries. He may need his teeth cleaned or may have a bad tooth causing the oder.He may have a physical reason causing the oder . I would take him to the vet to get him checked completely. He should not have total bad breath.
Reply:I'm not too sure on the mint thing, but one way to alleviate bad breath is by keeping his teeth clean. Be sure to use a dog toothpaste and not human toothpaste. It will not make his breath minty fresh, but it will remove foul odor caused by buildup and plaque, as well as keep your dog's mouth healthy and prevent decay and breakage. If your dog has never had it's teeth brushed, try to get one of those rubber finger brushes to start out with then move to a brush. the have kits that have the paste, finger brush, and toothbrush. He'll more than likely love the tast and take to it rather quickly.
Reply:raw food!
Dog mints are likely to mix with or only temporarily kill bad breath.
I started feeding my dogs raw and now their death breath is gone!
Reply:There is the all natural kind I bought at Petsmart. They had bits of mint in it. None of my 6 dogs would even look at them. Be sure to regularly brush his teeth.
If you are feeding canned or wet food you are fighting a losing battle. If it is a smushed face dog like a pug .. they just dont have good breath because air cant get in there. If it is truly toxic your dog might need a dental. If the breath has changed recently and so has his urination go to the vet it may be a sign of diabetes.
Good Luck
Reply:I give my dog a chew bone once a week,Its called Greenies and they work great, you can buy them at any pet store like petsmart, petco,or any small pet store,I give my dog one once a week and it works all week long, also try changing their dog food, sometimes that will help.Good luck
Reply:There is a natural product called Breath Fresh and you just put a drop of it into the dog's mouth. I works like magic! And there is also a mouthwash for dogs called Dental Fresh. I got from Petco..
Reply:I found that aniseed is the best I've found. Pet shops actually do a dog breath spray in this flavour. I clean my dogs teeth regularly too. She is 11yrs old and has pearly whites. Hope this helps.
Reply:Antibiotics. If your dog has serious funk breath it might be caused by bacterial infections in or around their teeth. Get a vet to check. Unchecked it can seriously harm them and shorten their lifespans if it becomes systemic.
If it's just regular bad breath from their food, a little parsley on their food will help.
Reply:First of all if your dog is over 4 years old, it's time to get his teeth clean at the vet. Dogs also get tarter build up in there teeth and it can cause a problem cause bacteria is in gums and will travel through there blood stream and can effect the lungs, heart, brain. Look into your dogs mouth, at the back of his teeth see what it looks like, if it's green, yellowish build up. Then it's time to get his teeth cleaned. You ca always brush his teeth if he lets you. Rawhide is good and they have lots of breath and teeth cleaning at the vets office that you won't find at the regular stores. Good luck.
