Why is mint the primary flavor oftoothpaste?

Why not another flavor?

Why is mint the primary flavor oftoothpaste?
Besides the obvious, being that mint is commonly accepted as a pleasant aroma for a mouth to smell like, it's probably really easy to mask the nasty taste of what toothpaste is made out of with mint.

But I believe Colgate has a bunch of new flavors, like orange and cinnamon and such.

I'm a Crest man, myself.
Reply:Cause the other flavs. suck
Reply:probably because mint settles the stomach ,so in case you swallow the tootpaste with all the chemicals in it the mint may keep you from becomming ill
Reply:it smells good and it prevents bad breath....

also it can help clean your teeth more effectively
Reply:I have sardine flavored toothpaste, but it's hard to find because it sells out so fast...
Reply:it smells good.
Reply:because it is ! - try Bubblegum flavor by Oral B- yum !
Reply:I think, for some reason, our culture values mint as "clean" feeling and tasting. It is also noteworthy that mint has a "feel" sensation, as opposed to fruit flavors. You can also kind of "feel" cinnamon too.
Reply:Because liverworst flavor toothpaste is just bad!!!!
Reply:It freshens the breath, has an unoffensive taste and after taste. Besides, without it your toothpaste would taste like that PASTE you used in kindergarten.
Reply:i imagine it's because it's a fresh flavor
Reply:because it freshens breath and smells good..compared to banana for instance
