I talking like 50-60 years...
Will an original mint Charizard or any beanie babies be worth anything significant?
they might but i would think a good growth mutual will preform them!!! besides you do not have to dust a mutual fund or worry about storage!!!
Reply:I would say no less than 100 years. The major factor is the huge number of people that havew vacuum packed enormous collections in do-dads plastic baggers they bought from infomercials. You have to wait 'til these people pass on and thier children toss the collections. Only then will you have rare pieces of americana.
Reply:It's impossible to tell, but I'd say, no. Get an index fund or a mutual fund.
Most collectibles are extremely difficult to value. Fine Art, autos, stamps, swords, firearms, coins - who knows.
In the early part of the 20th century, an art dealer named Joseph Duveen (a master salesmen) sold millions of dollars worth of fine art and collectibles to millionaires. Though many of the works he sold are today priceless, many are worth as much or less than what he sold them for in 1920.
Insurance companies, banks, most asset managers, and most financial institutions are prohibited, legally, from investing in collectibles, for this very reason.
