I found it in my family's money jar

How much is a 1944 Denver mint wheat penny worth?
Looks like a lot of answers but none answer your question. the 1944-D cent had a mintage of 430,578,000 so it is not rare or scarce. It has more historical value then monetary one. It can be found in coin dealers wheat cent boxes for around .05. It is the year that the U.S. finally got the upper hand during World War II. It could have been in some women's pay check that just finished building a bomber. Most of the work force then were women. It is worth holding onto, for it's value will go up as time goes by. One more thing it was the year I was born.
Reply:wtf? i have no idea
Reply:If it's in good to excellent condition it's worth more than a penny. Best bet is to take it to a coin and stamp store in your area.

Best of Success.
Reply:If it is a D, it is only 1-20x face value. If it has a S, you might want to bring it to an old coin shop, it could be worth up to $10,000. But hold on to it for now, do not sell it just yet.
